This was a heartwarming story and it only warmed up on reading the real story behind the story. Absolutely beautiful. What a blessing to have known them and their story.

This was lovely. You told their story so well, and.. it's just beautiful. I'm a softie and I love stories like this.

Thank you, Michael! As much as I grumble about “romance”, I’m a softie too.

Lovely story Bridget and you framed it so well. Yes, we know the war was hell, there was no need to rehash the details. The train full of returning soldiers, the dance hall, the double-date, clandestine hand-holding, the telephone call, all set the scene so nicely. Loved it.

This is beautiful. Both the fictionalized and the factual. I'm glad she remembered him before the end.

Old people were once goofy kids in love, too. It's good to be reminded of that.

Thank you.

A beautiful story beautifully told. And knowing that it was real adds to the magic. So well done. Thank you for sharing the beginning (and the end) of their story.

Bridget your versatility as a writer is showing. That was fantastic. You captured the no/yes/maybe of feelings for another as they grow, so well. I wonder how many relationships start out that way? The old opposites attract theory - and the sometimes denial, at first anyway, of the true feelings. Really enjoyed this one, very much. Great job! - Jim

Thank you so much, Jim! I had wonderful source material for this, so the love story is much more their doing than mine.

Au Contraire, mon amie. This is one of the few times, if not the first, that we disagree, haha.
