That took a twist I was not expecting... but on a second reading the tale has such an inevitable feel to it. Amazing story! I love how vivid the narrator's voice is.
I was thinking of Elvis. And I also thought of Flannery O'Connor. Not just for the southern vibe but for the "ordinary evil" vibe. I didn't really think of the ending as a twist, though. It just seemed like a form of evil that seems to be especially common in women, or maybe just overlooked in women?
I love the way Flannery O’Connor portrays “ordinary evil” in her fiction (not that I love any form of evil, but she is so adept at making the evil and grotesque recognizable and close-to-home), so it makes me so happy if that came through a little bit in this story!
I did not see that twist coming! I had to read it again after I got to the end, and the second time round gives chills right from the start and all the way through! Also, great setting and voice - I kept thinking about Johnny Cash, and Elvis.
Super good! I read this like I was watching a movie biopic. The twist is smooth and grabby. Well done.
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! And thanks for being willing to read through it twice! 😂
"into the world that didn’t yet know it now held one less beautiful thing."
I like how this story unfolds. So well done.
Thank you so much! And thanks for stopping by to read it!

Thank you so much! I’ve been reading Flannery O’Connor recently, so I’ve been feeling the 50s/60s Southern Gothic vibes. 😊
This was an excellent story. I felt like I could hear Jimmy’s voice and the narrators accent as if they were in the room with me. Well done!
Thank you so much!
